A favorite for students each year is the STEM Expo at Austin Peay State University! This competition allows 3rd—9th-grade students to think critically and solve a real-world problem using the Engineering Design Process. Students collaborate to research, create, test, and modify their projects during the school year. Then, they courageously present their findings to a group of volunteer judges from the community. Congratulations to all of the participants!
CMCSS Administrative Announcements
Director of High Schools - Bryan Feldman
Bryan Feldman has served as the principal of Clarksville High School since 2017. Previously, he served for seven years as the principal of West Creek Middle School, two years as an assistant principal at Kenwood Middle School, and ten years as an English and history teacher in North Carolina.
Director of Student Services - Tavis Massey
Tavis Massey has served as the principal of Northeast High School since 2016. Previously, he served as an assistant principal, Athletic Director, and Academy Administrator for four years at Northeast High School, one year at Rossview High School, and six years as the Academy Principal at Pearl-Cohn Entertainment Magnet High School.
Early Technical College at TCAT Administrator - Dr. James Bailey
Dr. James Bailey has served as the principal of Kenwood High School since 2021. He joined CMCSS in 2020 as the Adult Education and Transition to Work Supervisor. Dr. Bailey has over 17 years of administrative experience, serving as the principal of Whites Creek High School in Nashville.
Richview Middle Assistant Principal - Dr. Frances Canada-McKillip
Dr. Frances Canada-McKillip began her career in public education with CMCSS in 2009 and has taught all levels of Spanish at Clarksville High School. She has held numerous school and district-level leadership roles, including CMCSS Diversity Mentor Teacher, Clarksville High School Leadership Team member, Spanish Language Lead Teacher, At-Risk Committee member, and a member of the CMCSS curriculum and textbook committees.
Byrns Darden Elementary Assistant Principal - Mark Banasiak
Mark Banasiak has served for 24 years as a physical education teacher at Sango Elementary School and also served for one year at Burt Elementary and Cumberland Heights Elementary schools. Over his 25-year career in public education, Banasiak has held several school, district, state, and national leadership roles, including CMCSS Lead Elementary Physical Education Teacher, TDOE Standards Review and Student Growth Measures Development committees, and the National Physical Education Task Force, to name a few.

HAWKS HELPING FALCONS 🦅
Shout-out to the team at Rossview Elementary for going above and beyond to help a friend in need!
On Thursday, custodian Richard Clinard noticed an injured baby hawk outside in a storm drain. He enlisted the help of Monica O`Neill, the school`s art teacher. Monica quickly grabbed some fabric from her art closet, and they worked together to protect the bird.
After contacting the experienced wildlife experts at Walden`s Puddle, they learned the baby bird was actually a falcon, not a hawk, and he was transported to safety.
After completing a rigorous re-designation process with the Tennessee STEM Innovation Network, Moore Magnet Elementary School has been awarded the STE(A)M Designation by the Tennessee Department of Education.
Today, their students were able to celebrate this achievement. The decision to obtain this re-designation was in direct response to the interests of Moore Magnet students. Congratulations, Moore Magnet Elementary School!

The Rossview High AAD students regularly set goals for themselves as they prepare for life after graduation. Lori Arrington, a Rossview High AAD teacher, is focused on helping her students achieve their goals and works hard to find ways to introduce them to real-world situations. This year, she worked with her students to establish a school-based business, creating custom lanyards.
The goal was to provide students with the skills necessary to thrive in a work environment. Students collaborated to create a business plan, develop inventory control, assemble products, and communicate with customers. However, the benefits of social and emotional well-being were even more significant. Students shared that "it feels really good" to know people love the lanyards they create. The pride is evident in their faces as they share their hard work.
