Bullying Policies and Prevention
Families, school staff, and the community can help students prevent bullying. Research shows responding quickly and consistently to bullying behavior is a necessary step to stopping bullying over time. Schools take an active approach to bullying including talking about it, building a safe school environment, and creating a community-wide bullying prevention strategy.
Bullying-related acts, like other disruptive or violent behavior, interfere with a student’s ability to learn and a school’s ability to educate students in a safe and orderly environment. Since students learn by example, district personnel and volunteers should be positive role models in demonstrating appropriate behavior, treating others with civility and respect, and refusing to tolerate bullying-related acts. Students are expected to demonstrate appropriate behavior, treat others with civility and respect, and refuse to tolerate bullying-related acts. The provisions of this policy are published in the Student Code of Conduct, Employee Handbook, and the district website.
