CMCSS Announces New Chief Academic Officer

Dr. Schanda Doughty has been selected as the Chief Academic Officer. Currently, she serves as the Director of Teaching, Learning and Innovation.
“I am very excited about the opportunity to serve our outstanding district as the next Chief Academic Officer,” Dr. Doughty stated. “As a 23-year veteran to CMCSS, my personal connection to this District runs deep as both a dedicated professional, wife of a teacher, and parent of a CMCSS graduate. I am committed to ensuring our teachers and school leaders have the support they need as we focus on doing what is right for every student.”
Dr. Doughty has 15 years of administrative experience and previously served as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction 9-12, principal and assistant principal at Rossview High School, and assistant principal at West Creek Middle. She began her teaching career in CMCSS in 2000 and has taught at Clarksville High and Rossview High schools. During her 23-year career with CMCSS, she has earned numerous awards and recognitions, including the Green Apple Award (2002 & 2004), Distinguished Classroom Teacher Award, and the TSSAA Region 5 Principal of the Year Award. In 2022, she was selected for the Complete Tennessee Leadership Institute.
She earned her Ed.D. in Learning Organizations and Strategic Change from Lipscomb University, M.A. in Education from Austin Peay State University, and B.S. in Business Education from Murray State University. Doughty completed the CMCSS Aspiring Administrator Academy, CMCSS Advanced Leadership Training for Assistant Principals, and McREL Balanced Leadership Training for Administrators.
