Interest Meetings for the Teacher Residency Program Nov. 7 and 14

October 18, 2024

Earn a College Degree or Teaching Certification at No Cost Through the CMCSS Teacher Residency Program

The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System will hold informational sessions for the community for those interested in participating in the Teacher Residency Pathways. Applications will open in mid-November for the next set of teacher-resident programs.

Those interested in pursuing a degree or certification in education can attend one of two sessions.

On Thurs., Nov. 7, at 5:30 p.m., leaders in the Teacher Residency Program will discuss the three-year pathway for those who do not currently hold a bachelor’s degree. While in the program, applicants will pursue a degree and license to teach elementary grades K-5 and special education intervention through a three-year program. Residents will take courses at Nashville State Community College and Austin Peay State University. Selected candidates will also be compensated while working as CMCSS educational assistants throughout the program.

On Thurs., November 14, at 5:30 p.m., interested candidates who already possess an accredited Bachelor’s degree will learn about the program available in partnership with Lipscomb University. In this pathway, residents will earn their Master’s Degree or certification to teach middle-grade English or Math (with an optional English Language Learners certification), or are seeking a Master’s degree in K-5 with dual certification in Special Education.

Both sessions are held at Central Services South, 1312 Highway 48/13.

If you have ever considered a career in education, the Teacher Residency Program allows you to pursue a dream with no out-of-pocket expenses. In January 2022, the Grow Your Own Teacher Residency program became the first registered apprenticeship program for teaching in the United States.

Due to limited parking and space, the meeting is exclusively reserved for interested candidates. High School Seniors may bring a parent or guardian.

Applications for the Teacher Residency Program are due in January 2025.
