Teachers of the Year Honored

Each school’s Teacher of the Year candidate was honored by the CMC School Board and the CMC Education Foundation Board. The 2015-16 District Teachers of the Year are: Pre-K-4th Grade: Jason Jackson, Northeast Elementary; 5th-8th Grade: Laura Stamper, West Creek Middle; and 9th-12th: Mandy Frost, Northwest High. The Foundation presented the teacher of the year candidates each with a $100 check and the district candidates with $300 checks.

Congratulations to the Clarksville-Montgomery County Board of Education for being named a Board of Distinction by the Tennessee School Boards Association. Administrative Appointments Announced

Assistant principals for Woodlawn Elementary School and Northwest High School have been selected.  Northwest’s new assistant principal is Jessica Peppard, who has served as academic coach for Northwest and Northeast High Schools. She will replace Marlon Heaston, who has been named principal of Kenwood Middle.  Christina Irwin has been appointed assistant principal at Woodlawn, replacing Jennifer Silvers who was named principal of the school. In addition to her experience as a high school academic coach, Peppard was an English teacher at Northwest and at West Creek High School.  She earned her B.S. in English and her master’s in educational leadership from Austin Peay State University.

The curriculum navigator is a resource for parents and community members to access the Tennessee Standards.  On the curriculum navigator you are able to view the standards across grade levels and core content areas. Parents and community members can see how each student’s daily instruction is aligned with achieving a deep understanding of the respective content area. You simply click on the respective grade level/content area and are immediately able to access your student’s standards for the respective classes. CMCSS Offers Text Messages

Please note: This article was originally published on 4/1/2015. Information and/or dates from past events may be not be relevant for the current school year. Using SchoolMessenger, the notification system, CMCSS has the ability to send parents and guardians of students text messages on important information. To begin receiving texts, simply text YES from your device to 68453. This program doesn’t allow anyone to receive messages who otherwise wouldn’t. It simply allows those who can already receive phone and email messages to also receive text messages.
