Two Clarksville-Montgomery County School System administrative appointments were announced today.  Roshae Harrison has been named assistant principal at Montgomery Central Elementary and Ptosha Maclin has been named assistant principal at Carmel Elementary.

NASHVILLE— The Tennessee Department of Education released district-level results from the 2015 Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program (TCAP), which show strong gains in high school and significant gains in grades 3-8 math.   Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools have experienced improved achievement across almost every content and grade level, meeting 10 of 11 achievement targets.

Two long-time educators will be honored this Sunday with the naming of educational areas at New Providence and Northwest High. First, there will be the naming of the Bobby Petties Automotive Center at Northwest High School at 2 p.m. Mr. Petties was the well-loved auto shop vocational teacher who began his career with CMCSS in 1977 and retired in 2002. Second, there will be the naming of the Frances C. Sumner Library at New Providence Middle School at 4 p.m., Sunday, August 2, 2015. Mrs. Sumner began her career as librarian of New Providence Junior High in 1966. She witnessed much change throughout her professional career, retiring from New Providence Middle School in 2010.

The following administrative appointments have been announced: – Jaime Dye Holder, theatre arts teacher at NWHS, has been selected as the assistant principal at Kenwood Middle School. – Linda Medina-Griffy, assistant principal at Montgomery Central Elementary, will become the assistant principal at Minglewood Elementary School.

The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System has been named a District of Distinction by the editors of District Administration magazine for its Leadership Development. In its July edition, District Administration magazine honored 30 school districts as Districts of Distinction. This is the third round of honorees in this national recognition program, which was launched last year.

Catherine Brandt has been named Assistant Principal at Northeast Elementary School. She is filling the opening left by Regina Lyle who was named principal after Gina Biter’s retirement.  Ms. Brandt most recently served eight years as an elementary principal in Pomona, Kansas. She previously has been a classroom teacher in Title I reading and as co-director of Adult Education in Osawatomie, Kansas. She earned her master’s in building leadership from Pittsburg State University; a K-12 reading endorsement from Emporia State University in Kansas; and a B.A. in business administration from Mid-America Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas.

Montgomery Central High School math teacher Micahel Brown has been selected to receive the esteemed Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST). The awardee’s selection was announced via a White House press release today.
