Assistant Principal for Barkers Mill Elementary Announced
Nioka LaVigne has been selected as assistant principal at Barkers Mill Elementary for the upcoming school year. She currently serves as instructional math coach in grades K-5 at Barkers Mill. Previously, she was a third-grade teacher for more than seven years at Woodlawn Elementary School.
She earned her master’s in educational leadership at Trevecca Nazarene University and her B.S. in elementary education from Austin Peay State University. Ms. LaVigne completed the Balanced Leadership for Administrators program. She has fulfilled various leadership roles at the school, district, state and national levels related to curriculum, instruction and assessment. She has worked with the Tennessee Department of Education in the role of TNCore Mathematics Coach for two years, providing professional development to Tennessee teachers. She also was a Tennessee Teacher Fellow for Hope Street Group.
