School Board Presents Point of Pride Awards – November 2023

The CMCSS School Board presented the following Point of Pride awards to students, faculty, and staff during the November 21 meeting.
TMSAA Cross Country State Champions
The following two students are the first-ever TMSAA cross country state champions at the middle school level. Congratulations to Avery Young from Northeast Middle School and Jayden Lowry from Richview Middle School. At the TMSAA State Championship Cross Country Meet, Jayden earned 5th place in the state, and Avery earned 6th place in the state. Congratulations on these terrific achievements and for well representing CMCSS middle schools at the state competition!
TMSAA State Volleyball Tournament
The Richview Middle School Volleyball team, along with Coach Garinger, Coach Jefferson, and Coach Cole, were named the Area 13/Section 3 Champions and earned 6th Place at the TMSAA State Volleyball Tournament. The members of the Richview Middle Volleyball team are:

Golf TSSAA Division I Class AA State Tournament
Congratulations to the Clarksville High individuals and two golf teams that ranked at state championships. The Clarksville High Girls Golf Team is comprised of Zoe Philips, Hadley Hagewood, Makensy Hightower, and Lily Hyams and under the leadership of Coach Robichaud and Coach Um. They won 5th Place in the TSSAA Division I Class AA State Tournament.
The Clarksville High School Boys Golf Team with Coach Busbee were the Runner Up at the TSSAA Division I Class AA State Tournament. Team members include Parker Elkins, Cooper Jones, Braeden Parker, Briley Hagewood, Cord Cunningham, and Ethan Haston. Additionally, Parker was the Individual Champion and Cooper was the 4th Place Individual at the state tournament.
Tennessee Theatre Association Secondary Theatre One-Act Play Festival
The Rossview Playhouse earned 2nd Place and the Best Newcomer Award at the Tennessee Theatre Association Secondary Theatre One-Act Play Festival. From this performance, they are the first CMCSS program ever selected to represent Tennessee at the Southeastern Theatre Conference next March. The Rossview Playhouse is comprised of:

TSBA Awards
The final awards were presented at the Tennessee School Board Association annual convention. Lyle • Cook • Martin Architects, Inc., the CMCSS Operations Department, and Kirkwood Middle School administration received the TSBA 2023 School of the year Award for New Middle School Construction for Kirkwood Middle School. It is a beautiful facility that has tremendously helped relieve capacities at our middle schools, and we appreciate our partnership with Lyle, Cook, Martin Architects as well as support from the School Board, Montgomery County Commission, and our entire community to make the project possible.
Finally, Board vice-chair Mr. Jimmie Garland was named to the Tennessee School Boards Association Scholars Circle for achieving a Level V and attaining over 900 boardsmanship points in the TSBA Boardsmanship Award Program. Congratulations, Mr. Garland, on achieving this distinguished honor.
