Report Cards for Third Nine Weeks of 2021-2022 School Year Now Available

CMCSS student report cards for the third nine weeks of the 2021-22 school year will be available on Wednesday, January 12. Parents/guardians will access report cards online using the CMCSS Parent Self-Service webpage at parents.cmcss.net. If parents/guardians have issues accessing their child’s report card using CMCSS Parent Self-Service, they can contact their child’s enrolled school. The report card available through Parent Self-Service is considered the official report card with comments for the grading period. Parents/guardians can check their student’s academic progress on PowerSchool at any time. PowerSchool is the official grade book and attendance tracker for CMCSS. While some digital learning platforms have a grade book, please note that official grades will only be recorded in PowerSchool. CREATING A POWERSCHOOL ACCOUNT If you need to create a PowerSchool account, visit powerschool.cmcss.net, click the Create Account tab, and complete the form. Families will need an Access Code for each child. Access codes can be obtained through the parents.cmcss.net portal by clicking on “Get Student Security Info” and following the steps listed in the video below. UNDERSTANDING POWERSCHOOL AND REPORT CARD ABBREVIATIONS Families may see several abbreviations in PowerSchool, including: N(#) ex. N1, N2, etc. This is the student’s current grade in the nine weeks. S(#) ex. S1, S2, etc. This is the student’s semester grade, which includes the nine weeks combined. For high school students, this grade will reflect the semester credits earned for that period. The School Board voted to approve the final rezoning plan for middle schools effective the 2022-2023 school year and high schools effective the 2023-2024 school year. No elementary boundaries are affected by this rezoning. 


Closely Monitoring the Weather February 17, 2022

Please note: This article was originally posted during a previous school year. Information and/or dates from past events may be not be relevant for the current school year. The CMCSS Operations Department is closely monitoring the weather forecast for this afternoon. At this time, Montgomery County is under a wind advisory but not any significant weather advisories or severe thunderstorm/tornado watches. According to the National Weather Service, our community is split between a slight and enhanced risk for severe weather this afternoon. There is not a recommendation at this time to dismiss early based on the latest forecast. If the conditions change and there is a recommendation to dismiss early, the Communications Department will immediately communicate this information with families. Please know all CMCSS schools have severe weather plans, designated safe areas, and required drills throughout the school year. Additionally, the CMCSS Transportation Department has protocols for severe weather, including rerouting buses to the nearest school in the event of a tornado warning during a route. In 2019, CMCSS was named a StormReady district by the National Weather Service. To receive this distinction, CMCSS: Established a 24-hour warning point and emergency operations center Established more than one way to receive severe weather warnings, forecasts and to alert the public Created a system that monitors weather conditions locally Promoted the importance of public readiness through community seminars Developed a formal hazardous weather plan, which includes training severe weather spotters and holding emergency exercises


CMCSS Director of Schools Search 2022

Since May 2021, CMCSS has communicated with stakeholders regarding the search for a new Director of Schools. The School Board decides the timeframe and the direction for the search.


Closely Monitoring the Weather Forecast

Please note: This article was originally posted during a previous school year. Information and/or dates from past events may be not be relevant for the current school year. Good afternoon, CMCSS families, District officials are closely monitoring the weather forecast for tomorrow afternoon and evening. Although forecasters are predicting the potential for freezing rain, there is uncertainty about the timing and impact on travel. Because of the uncertainty, there is no recommendation at this time to close schools tomorrow. However, the Operations Department will continue monitoring the forecast. Please Be Prepared We ask all families to please have a plan in the event that schools are closed or must dismiss early.  A few notes about early school closings: In the event an emergency early school closing is necessary, a communication will be sent to families as soon as the decision is made, explaining the timing of the early closure.  Please ensure you know what time your child’s school dismisses on a regular day as it is used to determine the earlier dismissal time. For example, if your child’s school regularly dismisses at 2:20 p.m. and there is a 3-hour early dismissal, your child’s school will dismiss at 11:20 a.m.  Regular day dismissal times can be found on the following web pages: elementary, middle, high. Additionally, please note the half day dismissal times as these could be used instead. Schools will make every effort to ensure students are provided with both a breakfast and lunch meal. Bus drivers will run their routes based on the adjusted dismissal times.  Please ensure you know what time your child’s bus typically arrives as it is used to determine the earlier arrival time.
