Principals Appointed at Byrns Darden, Hazelwood

Jessica Harris, who has served as principal at Hazelwood Elementary School for three years, has been appointed to the Byrns Darden principalship, replacing Andy Lyons who has accepted another position overseas. Cynthia Rogers, currently assistant principal at Hazelwood, will take on the leadership role at that school.

The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System continues to exceed expectations for its students. An external review team from the AdvancED Accreditation Commission recommended that the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System earn the distinction of accreditation by AdvancED.

Social Studies Standards Feedback Reopened

This website is currently open for the second of two windows of public feedback on the state social studies standards. You will find the revised social studies standards posted on this site. Educator development teams reviewed the website feedback from the first window in revising these draft standards. The SBE will work in conjunction with the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) to collect all of the comments submitted to this website during the second review window, and the standards will again be revised to incorporate this feedback. An appointed Standards Recommendation Committee will make the ultimate recommendation for new social studies standards to the SBE in early 2017. Implementation will take place in the 2019-20 school year.
CMCSS 2nd Annual Robot Rodeo

The 2nd Annual Robot Rodeo is open to the community, parents and students. The Robot Rodeo is organized in collaboration with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the CMCSS First Lego League Robotics Teams. Events this year include: Middle Tennessee Bomb Squad demonstrations, student robotic displays, and the Robot Rodeo Competition. The event is on Oct. 1 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Northeast High School and in the Northeast Middle School parking lot. Concessions will be available during the event. New Visitor Sign-in System

The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System is upgrading its on-site security measures with a new visitor management sign-in process. This system will provide a higher level of school safety and security with immediate checks through the state and national sex offender database and creation of on-the-spot, personalized identification badges, complete with the visitor’s photograph.

All CMCSS Elementary Schools will host a Back to School Night this Friday, Aug. 5 from 5-7 p.m. School starts August 8! Middle School Open House is Aug. 18 and High School Open House is Aug. 25, also from 5-7 p.m. Some middle and high schools have parent nights scheduled. 2016-17 Freshman Orientation

Freshmen Orientation is an opportunity for incoming freshmen students to become acclimated with the high school setting. During this time, students will tour the building, meet teachers, review schedules, learn about clubs/activities and several other areas related to their school. We welcome parents to attend these campus-based orientations to learn more about what each school has to offer as we prepare their students for a successful high school experience. Schools that have “Freshmen Focus” will communicate additional details about their orientations via SchoolMessenger.
