New Visitor Sign-in System

The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System is upgrading its on-site security measures with a new visitor management sign-in process. This system will provide a higher level of school safety and security with immediate checks through the state and national sex offender database and creation of on-the-spot, personalized identification badges, complete with the visitor’s photograph.



Back to School Night

All CMCSS Elementary Schools will host a Back to School Night this Friday, Aug. 5 from 5-7 p.m. School starts August 8! Middle School Open House is Aug. 18 and High School Open House is Aug. 25, also from 5-7 p.m. Some middle and high schools have parent nights scheduled. Please check on the school’s webpage for details.

2016-17 Freshman Orientation

Freshmen Orientation is an opportunity for incoming freshmen students to become acclimated with the high school setting. During this time, students will tour the building, meet teachers, review schedules, learn about clubs/activities and several other areas related to their school. We welcome parents to attend these campus-based orientations to learn more about what each school has to offer as we prepare their students for a successful high school experience. Schools that have “Freshmen Focus” will communicate additional details about their orientations via SchoolMessenger.

The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) has selected three candidates to fill administrator positions for the upcoming school year.  Current assistant principal, Scott Wainwright, has been appointed to serve as the principal of New Providence Middle School.  Rossview Middle School teacher, Jenette Spurbeck, has been chosen as an assistant principal at Clarksville High School (CHS).  Richview Middle School (RIMS) teacher, Lisa Courson, has been selected as an assistant principal at RIMS.



2016-17 TCAP Announcement from TN Department of Education

The Tennessee Department of Education has announced some changes to state assessments under the TCAP umbrella for the 2016-17 school year. As in previous years, students in Tennessee will continue to take the TCAP, but there will be a reduction in testing time this year. The state has eliminated Part I of the TCAP, so all TCAP tests will be administered in one assessment window at the end of the year.



Building Strong and Sustainable Partnerships

The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System is hosting the Building Strong and Sustainable Business Partnerships workshop for local business and industry to join forces with local educators.  This half-day workshop will focus on the “why” and the “how” of partnerships, helping attendees understand the impact that business partners can have on student outcomes and vice-versa.

In Tennessee, we have laid a firm foundation for our students’ future by raising standards to a more rigorous level that will prepare them for college and careers; establishing fully aligned assessments to ensure all of our students are developing problem-solving and critical thinking skills; and by using evaluation and accountability systems based on multiple factors. The new federal education law, the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), builds on this work by reaffirming the importance of standards, assessment, and accountability and through empowering states to make decisions for our students.



Provide Feedback on Fine Arts Standards

In 2016, the State Board convened a review committee composed of Tennessee educators to revise the state’s fine arts standards. The newly revised fine arts standards are now available for public review. Prior to reading the draft standards, the state encourages you to read the overall introduction to the fine arts standards here.



It’s Almost Graduation Time!
