NEHS Principal Named for 16-17

Tavis Massey has been named principal of Northeast High School, replacing Garry Chadwell who was appointed assistant principal at Kenwood High School. Massey, who has served as assistant principal at Northeast High School since 2012, earned his master of education degree from Tennessee State University, where he also earned a B.S. in business administration. He served as academy principal at Metropolitan Nashville’s Pearl-Cohn Entertainment Magnet High School for six years. He also has six years of teaching experience in middle and elementary schools in Metro Nashville Schools.
Burt Elementary Principal Named

Melody Nix has been named principal of Burt Elementary School beginning with the 2016-17 school year. She will replace Diana Hara, who is retiring at the end of this school year. Mrs. Nix has served as assistant principal at Barkers Mill Elementary since 2011, She previously has served as an academic coach at Ringgold Elementary and has prior experience as an elementary teacher at Ringgold, Rossview and Glenellen elementary schools in the CMCSS and in schools in Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Maryland and Mississippi.
CMCSS Offers Summer Academy Camps

The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System will be offering four different academy-themed camps for students this summer. They include: a STEM Exploration Camp at Kenwood High School; a Create Workshop at Rossview High; a MediCamp at Northwest High; and an Ag Summer Camp at Montgomery Central. Schools Motivate Energy Savings with Videos

Three energy saving themes for CMCSS this year are: Lights off, Shut it off, and Shut it down. In order to get everyone excited about saving energy, schools were asked to create a video using those three concepts. Energy Champions from around the district voted, and Barksdale won for elementary and middle schools and Montgomery Central was the winner for high schools.
Principal Named for Rossview High

Rossview High School assistant principal Dr. Schanda Banister-Doughty will be promoted to the principalship at Rossview, following the retirement of Frank Myers at the end of this school year. Doughty, who earned her doctorate of education from Lipscomb University, has served at Rossview as a teacher and administrator for 14 years. She has been lead administrator for the Academy of Media Arts and Technology at Rossview since its opening in fall 2013. She also served as assistant principal at West Creek Middle during its inaugural year.
