CMCSS Offers Text Messages

Using SchoolMessenger, the notification system, CMCSS has the ability to send parents and guardians of students text messages on important information. To begin receiving texts, simply text YES from your device to 68453. This program doesn’t allow anyone to receive messages who otherwise wouldn’t. It simply allows those who can already receive phone and email messages to also receive text messages.
KMS Principal Named

Marlon Heaston has been named principal of Kenwood Middle School. Heaston has served as assistant principal at Northwest High School since 2013, where he also has served as the STEM and high school administrator. Previous to joining CMCSS, Heaston was a math educator in Covington, Tenn. He earned both his doctorate in education and his master of education in educational leadership at Trevecca Nazarene University. He earned his bachelor of education from Southern Illinois University.
Woodlawn Principal Announced

Jennifer Silvers has been appointed principal at Woodlawn Elementary School, replacing Janet Staggs who is now principal at East Montgomery Elementary. Mrs. Silvers has been assistant principal at Woodlawn since 2008.
CMCSS Named in List for Best Community for Music Education

The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System joined three other Tennessee districts (Shelby County and Metro Nashville) in being listed among the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation recognized 388 school districts in 46 states as among the Best Communities for Music Education. In its 16th year, the program singles out districts for outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students and community leaders who have made music education part of the core curriculum.
Board Waives Missed Student Days

The Clarksville-Montgomery County School Board has waived making up the days students missed due to inclement weather this year. Students’ last half day of school will remain May 21. April 10, which was scheduled as an early dismissal day, will now be a regular school day.
Oasis Cafe Earns Honor for CMCSS

2016-17 Kindergarten Kickoffs Set

Kindergarten Kickoffs for the elementary schools in CMCSS run through the months of April and May for enrollment in the 2016-17 school year. Children must turn five by August 15 in order to enter kindergarten, according to Tennessee law. Kickoffs give the child and parent an opportunity to hear from the school’s administrator, meet kindergarten teachers and receive registration packets.
