Community Invited to See New MCHS

The community is invited to see the $20 million interest-free bond renovation of Montgomery Central High School. A two-year major renovation has just been completed on the 42-year-old school. The school will be open from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday Aug. 26.  Students at the facility are now experiencing a safer and updated learning environment.



Carmel Elementary Hosts Community Open House

The doors to the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System’s twenty second elementary school will be open to the public on Sunday, Aug. 19 from 3 – 5 p.m. The school is located on the corner of Sango Road and Dixie Bee Road. The Community Open House will allow the public to see the results of the $17.1 million investment in student learning. Construction began on the 842-student K-5 school in August 2011.  The 35-acre tract also will offer a county-maintained park, a Montgomery County Highway Department salt barn and an area for emergency management to use for the possible future development of an ambulance station that would service residents in eastern Montgomery County.



NWHS Renovation Project Moving Forward

The Montgomery County Commission voted to support the $15.4 million construction resolution for the proposed renovation of Northwest High School. The high school opened in the fall of 1970 and the project will include significant upgrades, with a focus on safety and security.



CMCSS Breach Update

The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System discovered on June 11, 2012 that an unknown individual gained access to nine of its computer databases that contained the names, addresses, and Social Security numbers of certain current and former CMCSS employees, as well as the names, addresses, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, and student identification numbers of certain current and former CMCSS students.  Beginning today, August 2, 2012, CMCSS is notifying each individual whose information was accessed during this intrusion and advising each individual of the elements of personal information exposed.  CMCSS is not aware of any misuse of the personal information accessed during this illegal intrusion at this time; however, CMCSS also is advising affected individuals of steps that can be taken to protect identity and credit from fraud and theft. 



STEM

STEM is the integration of science, technology, engineering and math into the CMCSS curriculum.  It is not an initiative, but the next level in  learning and teaching. The integration of science and math is the key to a complete understanding of both subjects and more importantly it is the key to the application of the content.

Winter Named Nominee in Tennessee 2012-13 Principal of the Year

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Department of Education has announced regional finalists for the annual Principal of the Year and Supervisor of the Year awards. Minglewood Principal Jane Winter is among nine principals, chosen from among more than 1,700 across the state nominated by their peers for the state-level honors, which recognize administrators who have improved education for Tennessee students through their leadership.



Pass and Go Winner

The fourth annual Clarksville-Montgomery County School System Pass and Go Program, sponsored by Wyatt Johnson Automotive Group and Premier Medical Group, culminated Saturday with a Northwest High graduate winning a brand new car.
