CMCSS Improves in All Content Areas Tested

Clarksville-Montgomery County School System earned bragging rights as the Tennessee Department of Education announced student performance on the 2012 Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program. CMCSS has improved in achievement proficiency in all subject areas and grades, with the exception of U.S. History, which remains at an exceptionally high 97 percent proficient.



Dow Corning Foundation Approves $20,000 Grant for CMCSS Teachers

The Dow Corning Foundation has approved a $20,000 grant to Clarksville-Montgomery County School System to fund the Teacher Extern Program, started this summer with 10 local industries, including Hemlock Semiconductor Group’s Clarksville site.

Pass and Go Event Under New Sponsorship, More Car Choices for Winning AP Student (July 24, 2012) The Fourth Annual Pass and Go event, a reward celebration for Clarksville-Montgomery County School System Advanced Placement students who score a 3, 4 or 5 on their exam, will be this Saturday at Wyatt Johnson, the event sponsor.



Director of Middle Schools Announced

Gist has been selected to serve as the Director of Middle Schools for the Clarksville–Montgomery County School System. She will replace Dr. Sean Impeartrice who has been promoted to lead as the district’s Chief Academic Officer effective August 1, 2012. Dr. BJ Worthington and Schools Director Mike Harris jointly announced the decision today.  “Dr. Gist’s history with the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System has been a very positive one. She brings with her a hard work ethic and a dedication to team work,” Dr.Worthington noted. Dr. Gist has been the  principal of Heritage Middle School of Williamson County Schools since 2010. In the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System, Gist was the principal of Richview Middle School from 2008 to 2010. She earned her Ed.D. in Professional Practices from Trevecca Nazarene University. She also received her Master of Arts and Bachelor of Science in Biology Education, as well as her administrative credentials from the University of North Alabama. Director of Schools Mike Harris said, “We welcome Mary back to the Clarksville–Montgomery County School System and look forward to her positive approach to education.”



Administrative Appointments for CMCSS Schools

Sherry Baker selected principal at Liberty Elementary School Sherry Baker began her career with the Clarksville-Montgomery County School system in 1993 serving as both a third and fourth grade teacher at East Montgomery Elementary School. Ms. Baker has been an assistant principal of East Montgomery Elementary School since 2010, serving in various leadership roles to advance student achievement. She is a graduate of the district’s Aspiring Administrators Academy and the Leadership Assessment Academy. Priscilla Story, Director of Elementary Schools shared, “Sherry’s enthusiasm and passion for students and teachers has made her a great choice for Liberty Elementary. Her successful experiences in the classroom and as an assistant principal have prepared her for this next step in her career and in this district.” Ms. Baker received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Bethel College, Cum Laude and a Masters of Arts in Education-Administration and Supervision from Austin Peay State University in 1998.   Evelyn Martinez appointed principal at Kenwood Middle School Director of Schools Mike Harris has appointed Evelyn Martinez as the principal of Kenwood Middle School. She will replace Bart Dixon who will be serving as an assistant principal at Northeast Middle School at the conclusion of this year. Mr. Harris stated, “One of the keys to school success is having high energy, and Evelyn possesses just that. Also, having the support and trust of her staff at Kenwood Middle School will serve her well.” Martinez has served as assistant principal of Kenwood Middle School and as CMCSS Summer School assistant principal. Open Enrollment Period Extended Moore Magnet

CMCSS More Green than Ever

Clarksville-Montgomery School System is the latest organization to be Green Certified. The School System works hard to reduce waste, reuse and recycle materials when possible. Before entering the Green Certification Program, the School System had already been working hard to be good stewards of their resources and our environment, however, they still chose to participate in the Clarksville-Montgomery Green Certification Program through the workshops, tracking their progress and developing an environmental plan.
