He replaces Rosanne Sanford who was named principal of the new Carmel Elementary.

CMCSS Grad Rate Continues to Climb

The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System overall is performing well based on data released today in the Tennessee 2011 Report Card. Among the high points of the data is the system’s continued improvement of its high school graduation rate at 93.5 percent.

Thus, when schools are faced with threatening weather, the district’s telephone notification system is programmed to send a message to the number provided. Also, parents are advised to listen to radio and television reports, and they are encouraged to call the transportation information line at 358-2006 for up to date transportation information, or go to www.cmcss.net for school closing information.
Chief Human Resources Officer Named for CMCSS

Jeanine Chester has been named Chief Human Resources Officer for the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System beginning in January. She will replace Bruce Jobe, who is retiring.
Rezoning Plan Approved for 2012-13

Students impacted at the five high schools will have the option to remain at their current school but will have to provide their own transportation. Students at four middle schools and three elementary schools will be affected by the zoning changes and will not have the option to remain. Students at West Creek Middle will have the option of remaining within their current school zone due to the number of previous rezonings they have experienced.
Aspire Foundation Invests in STEM

James Chavez, president and CEO of the Clarksville Economic Development Council, presented a $10,000 check from the Aspire Clarksville Foundation to support the robotics program in the STEM Academy at Kenwood High School. Aspire is a privately-funded economic development and community marketing initiative for Clarksville-Montgomery County. Chavez presented the check at a recent School Board meeting.
100% Graduation Champion Gets State Recognition

The inaugural winner of the Tennessee School Boards Association School Volunteer Recognition Award is Mid-Cumberland District Winner David B. Smith of Clarksville-Montgomery County. Smith has chosen to award Kenwood High School with the $1,000 grant. Mr. Smith has fully supported and led the Clarksville-Montgomery County program, 100% Graduation is Clarksville’s Business. This campaign was created to unite the community in an effort to support and promote the graduation rate for the students in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System. He has been front and center in rallying the community for their support. He has traveled to numerous Tennessee districts to discuss this effort and its benefits. David Smith was there during the kick-off in June 2008, and remains true to this initiative to this day!
HES Principal to Head Up Newest Elementary School

Report Card Changes To Reflect TCAP Scores

Beginning this year, to be in compliance with State Law, the TCAP test that 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students take in the spring will count 15% of their second semester grade. Because of this change, report cards will look different this year. There are two additional columns called semester averages and TCAP. There will be no score in the TCAP column until the last report card.
